Ristorante La Cranceria sits tucked within Lucca’s historic walls on Via Fillungo, offering a blend of restaurant and bakery vibes with a clear focus on pizza and local Tuscan flavors. This spot works well for anyone looking to savor authentic Lucchese dishes alongside traditional Italian staples like focaccia and tiramisù, all served in a space that balances casual comfort with some quiet corners for relaxed dining.

Inside, you’ll find two main dining rooms, one of which is air-conditioned, plus outdoor seating options that let you enjoy Lucca’s street life while sipping on an Aperol spritz or a carefully selected local beer. The atmosphere is straightforward — no frills, just attentive service and a noticeable care in food preparation. The pizzas here, especially the al taglio varieties, stand out for their satisfying texture, often with a crisp exterior and tender crumb inside. It's easy to appreciate the option to sample some focaccia flavors before ordering, which highlights their bakery’s pride in craft and variety.

Menu highlights include traditional plates such as spaghetti carbonara and regional specialties like Tortello Lucchese, alongside inventive pizzas topped with ingredients like speck, mascarpone, or gorgonzola with spicy salami. There’s a solid selection of antipasti featuring local salumi and cheeses, making it a comfortable spot to start with a shared plate and a glass of vino rosso before moving onto the main course.

Practical note for those coming by car: parking near the historic center can be a challenge, reflecting the compact nature of this part of Lucca. It’s better suited for those already strolling the town or arriving by bike or foot.

The crowd tends to be a mix of locals familiar with the authentic Lucchese fare and travelers drawn by the straightforward charm and solid quality. Early evenings or slightly off-peak hours can be more relaxed, while weekend nights fill up quickly, so reservations come recommended. Friendly staff enhance the experience, making sure diners feel well looked after without rushing the meal. All in all, La Cranceria offers a grounded taste of Lucca’s everyday dining, where the focus stays on good food and a no-nonsense atmosphere.

Good restaurant. Have space downstairs and outside of the restaurant for dining. Good beer collection. Good staff. If you go with your vehicle it’s kind of difficult, because it’s in side of the walls. And kind of hard to find parking. But if you are in Lucca you must try this restaurant. Foods are delicious. I recommend.

Simple and delicious. You enter to the restaurant to a beautiful smell and a couple options in front of you. The you taste it, the crunch of the pizza was on point, I found the margherita excellent - when can this one go wrong? Service was really friendly and helpful. We had a delightful waiter, Federico. He and other staff members made sure we had everything we needed. They allocated us to the downstairs room, where a few tables are available, and brought everything quickly but without rushing us (even if we were the last to leave). Cheers! Prices seem to be quite standard for Lucca’s pizza al taglio. They have a few vegetarian options. Their peperoncino oil is perfect to add a light spicy kick to your meal.

Good food. Good service. Reasonable prices. Clean. Make a reservation on a Saturday night. Two rooms inside. Also does take out. Big selection of local artisan beers.

Extremeley delicious focaccia to try in town: tasty, soft and the surface is a bit crunchy! You also have the option to taste some of them before for free in case the looks didn't convince you already. We had "La Lussuirosa" and "La Parmigiana" and we loved them.

Funtastic place to breake. Great aperol with Campari, each piece of pizza cost around 5 euro so for our family we spent circa 30 euro. Tables outside, tables inside in air conditioning room. Really greate concept.

Great variety of pizzas on reasonable pricing. We passed by and we were attracted by the good looking pizzas. They were tasty for sure! I just didn’t like that my pizza was a little burn underneath as they put them in the oven when you order.
